"So, I’ve been thinking about this whole being happy thing, and I feel like people get lost when they think of happiness as a destination...We’re always thinking that someday we’ll be happy; we’ll get that car or that job or that person in our lives that’ll fix everything. But happiness is a mood, and it’s a condition, not a destination. It’s like being tired or hungry, it’s not permanent. It comes and goes, and that’s okay. And I feel like if people thought of it that way, they’d find happiness a lot more often." Julian, Season 8.

Inspiration
While I'm sitting at home not at all being a loser watching One Tree Hill (yes, One Tree Hill, don't judge me) I heard a pretty fantastic quote. Hope you guys appreciate it too.

Moody Music
Being the
party enthusiasts that we are, I have to share the latest party tool I’ve come
across. On the weekends there are different moods for every social
gathering. Whether it’s a chill night with the girls and cocktails, pre-gaming
for the night ahead, or you’re throwing a blow-out bash, a different mood fills
all of these situations. Music also must fill the air. Lucky for us party-goers there is a new app from Apple that allows
users to choose music based off their mood.
Similar
to Pandora Radio, Songza plays continuous music based off of the day, time and mood
you tell it to play. You’re not limited to a single artist or genre! It’s a
perfect app for any activity, at any day and time. This past weekend I told
Songza it was a Saturday afternoon and I was in a summertime mood. I was
delighted with their “Lazy Summer” station. Later that night I played “Crowd Pleasing Dance Pop” while getting ready and pre-gaming with my girls before going out. So trust me, this weekend buy the free app and enjoy the tunes.

Hot Sand and Cool Breeze.
Monday’s are never fun. And I usually find myself sitting at my desk with piles of work around me day dreaming of hot sand, cool water, and icy drinks.
I know we are in prime vacation season. But for those of you, who like me, have yet to squeeze any bikini time into your busy schedule. Here are some inspiring and drool worthy vacation shots to cool off your hot Monday.
So go ahead – make a sandy beach your screen saver. Mix up a virgin margarita in the break room, turn on the fan, and play some luau music in your cubicle. All the sudden Monday doesn’t seem so bad…
Cheers!

The Party Ain't Over
Yep - I said ain't - but I'm from the south, so what do you expect?
The 4th is over <insert sad face and loud whine> but that doesn't mean the party is over! Here are some tips to get you through 'til labor day!
1. Take a long weekend.
No, it isn't your annual week long vacay, but it sure does feel nice to know you only have a 4 day work week! Take a quick weekend trip to the beach (and if you're in Carolina that only means a 3-4 hour drive) or rent a boat for a lake weekend! Want to save money? Then just take the day off! Sit on your back porch, read a book on the couch in an empty house, or lay in bed until noon!
I recently took a 24 hour trip to Ocean Isle Beach and split the room 4 ways. It was the best $50 I've ever spent! Any weekend is better when a tiki bar is involved!
2. Eat something new.
One of my favorite things about summer vacation is eating new foods! Sure, call me the fat girl on the trip for thinking of food, but I REFUSE to eat anything that I can get at home! Here are some fun ideas to mix into your regular meal planning (thanks PINTEREST!)
3. Mix it up.
Sure, it might only be a Tuesday, but there is nothing wrong with mixing up some margaritas and sitting in your backyard! It's summertime - close your eyes, drink it down and pretend you're on a coast somewhere... where is that pool boy again?? Here are some drink recipes to try out!

Thank You Founding Fathers!
AMEN! July 4th is all about fun in the sun. Charlotte’s looking at scattered thunderstorms tomorrow but keep your fingers crossed for a dry day to celebrate Independence Day!
July 4th on a Wednesday might not be ideal, but hey what’s better than making it half way through the work week? - making it halfway through the work week with the day off, a cold beer, sunshine and fireworks.
Party the day away and enjoy your holiday!

A dash of Red, White & Blue
There has been a lot of party talk lately. And just in time! One of our favorite holidays around here is July 4th and with the legal and oh so addicting internet crack pinterest the ideas abound to help anyone throw one Mean Party!!

Proudly bare the red, white, and blue and celebrate in the sun or rain as it's likely here. With good food and drinks the party is guarenteed to be mean!

Finally My Internship is No Longer a Secret!
Ahh what a relief! After a month of interning I finally got
to tell the world what I’m doing. Their reactions were just what I expected.
When I show off the homepage to the new Mean Party website the first question I get
has been the same – “But what do you mean a ‘A lifestyle and events company’?” Most of my peers are college
students or recent grads and haven’t heard of a lifestyle management or
concierge company before. So then I go on with my usual example to help
explain. In case you are equally confused, allow me to explain. Trust me, I
would LOVE to. This has been bottled up for a month!
So say we have a client ask us to plan their wedding. This
obviously fits into the “events” of the company. We help plan their wedding and
through the process consider each other much more than just a business
relationship, we’re friends. The wedding day comes and it’s a blast for
everyone, just what the bride and groom wanted. But what about after the
wedding, like the new website and blog say – we don’t want the party to end.
What about all the gifts that need sorted and organized into
the married couple’s new home? What if they need help planning the honeymoon,
or packing for it? Who is going to house-sit while they are away? Or when they
get back and all their work at the office has built up to where they don’t have
time to restock the fridge after being away? Consider a couple years down the
road when their first newborn comes along. What if they need help designing the
baby’s room or planning a baby shower? Good thing Mean Party is still there.
That’s where the lifestyle
comes in. We help manage client’s crazy lives just like we manage a wedding
or event so you can enjoy the party. We can’t say this enough – life’s a party
and we want to help you enjoy it because we throw a Mean Party.
