Beautiful Bouquets

Flowers to a wedding are balloons to a birthday party - they just go hand in hand!  Here's the thing though, everyone knows that.  And it's sad to say, but florists are able to take advantage of you because of it.  They KNOW a bride won't walk down the isle empty handed, so they will upcharge, upcharge, upcharge simply because they can.

At Borrowed & Blue, we also offer floral services to help take that edge off.  We are passionate about ALL areas of the business and flowers are a BIG part of this business!  That's enough tooting of our own horn, so now let us toot a few other peoples.  Here are some BEAUTIFUL bouquets:

The dress.

Happy Sunday Lovelies!

Let’s talk about something close to my heart….. “the dress”!!!

I –as has been clearly stated- have a distinct and thorough appreciation for all things unique. I just love any and everything that no one else has. This rule most definitely applies to wedding dresses. I think a distinctive, unique wedding dress is a perfect way to put a stamp on your day. When the bride first comes down the aisle it’s the first memory of the whole day. Why not make it an absolute one of a kind moment?

The new online boutique BHLDN the bridal line from Anthropologie, is beyond amazing. The dresses are divine, one of a kind, and something not seen anywhere else. They are a perfect blend of sex and glamour. They are designed towards a vintage angle which you know speaks to my heart, and they are just all around the best things I’ve seen on the bridal market in a while. There are lots of ways to stand out at your wedding and make it unique, but having a killer dress makes all the heads turn.

I want to buy them all and get married over and over and over again………… to the same man of course ;).

Enjoy!

Wonderful Winter Weddings

I know, I know – fall & spring are almost EVERY ONE’S favorite times of the year to get married.  But why leave out the winter?  There’s a lot to be said for this magical time of year.  Everyone seems to be feeling jollier, the cold air seems to make everything glisten and there is no such thing as too much glitter and sparkle in the winter (ehem – glitter is my drug)!

Not to mention – most venues give winter discounts because they want to fill those gap months with business!  (Y’all know I like to save a buck!)  Below are some images of some wonderful winter weddings to give you a little inspiration for a colder wedding:

Happy Engagement Season!

Love is in the air!  Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day are THE MOST POPULAR times to get engaged!  I know a TON of ladies and gents that put a ring on it over the holidays and I know the rest will be bringing in the rear this Vday!

In today’s world, we have UP TO THE MINUTE news as to when someone got engaged.  We are long past the days of checking out the “engagement” section in the Sunday paper!  What do us ladies do?  We hear someone got engaged and IMMEDIATELY head to their facebook page to scope out pics of the RING!

www.tacori.com
Most girls have no shame in posting pictures of the ring, however, there are still plenty who wouldn’t dare.  If you pretended facebook wasn’t around, posting a pic of your bling would be similar to mailing a picture of it to all of your friends and family – and I doubt we would do that.

Personally, I don’t find it tacky at all to be happy and proud of the beautiful token of love given from ones beau.  As a matter of fact, I LOOK FORWARD to virtually congratulating the couple (and the fella’s ring taste)!  What do you think?  Tacky or not tacky?  I’d love to hear your opinion!  Comment below and let us know what you think!

Congratulations to all of you have decided to spend the rest of your life together!  I wish you all the best in the future and through the planning process!   And feel free to show me pics of your ring, I LOVE that stuff!  =)

Pin Your Heart Out

If you haven’t already heard, there is a new phenomenon in the social media world – PINTEREST!  The website allows you to organize and share anything on the web through pictures.  This place is a GREAT tool for brides and wedding planners!

Brides can set up a “pinboard” for their wedding and their pinterest page turns into a virtual scrapbook of ideas and interests.  Pinterest will also allow users to create different folders for all the numerous details of a wedding, such as the cake, the bouquet, decorations, dresses and color schemes. Brides could also search through other Pinterest user’s “pins” for ideas. Other “pins” could spark great ideas that you wouldn’t have thought of on your own.

Pictures makes it much easier for a bride to show a florist, someone working at a dress boutique or their wedding planner what they want.  It's so much easier than explaining with words! Another great perk of Pinterest is it allows people to comment on your “pins” to get feedback from family and friends!

People love to be a part of something if they feel like they helped create it, so a bridal party will love posting “pins” and commenting on your plans. So get online and go explore! Go to www.pinterest.com, request an invite, and start “pinning” your wedding plans!  Don't forget to add your wedding planner to your pin board - we LOVE knowing what you love!  HAPPY PINNING!

1.)    Tiny touches of metallic:
Borrowed & Blue Events - Small Batch Cookery
Add in your Choice of metallic - whether it be gold, silver or gilver (Thanks Rachel Zoe for the verbiage), a touch of this in your decor will go a long way!

2.)    Brighten it up with Candles:

Use candles to create a romantic reception area for your guests to enjoy.  They can also serve as centerpieces or you can use them as simple decoration to dress up any venue.

3.)    Stick to your theme with warm colored flowers:
